What it is
Bake Notes is an AI-powered baking notebook built for serious sourdough nerds. Voice-driven capture -- tap a button, talk about today's hydration, the kitchen temperature, the way the dough felt after the second fold -- and the app turns that stream of observation into a clean, structured, searchable log. Every bake. Every variable. Every detail.
Each entry captures recipe, ratios, ambient conditions, timing, and the qualitative observations that normally get scribbled on receipt paper next to the proofing basket. Over time it learns the shape of your bakes -- the small adjustments that make the difference between a decent loaf and an exceptional one.
Why I'm building it
The interesting signal in any craft lives in the asides -- the small in-process observations made while your hands are busy. "The flour felt drier today." "The autolyse ran 15 minutes long." "I missed Tuesday's starter feed." Most spreadsheets and recipe apps force you to flatten those asides into structured fields, and the asides die. Voice capture lets them live. AI gives them shape.
Current state
- Voice capture -> AssemblyAI -> structured JSON pipeline working end-to-end.
- GPT-4 normalizes free-form notes into recipe / observation / outcome buckets.
- Cross-bake trend analysis ("your last 3 country loaves -- here's what changed") is the next major slice.
- Mobile front-end is FlutterFlow, backend is CFML on Lucee with MySQL behind it.
What's next
- Photo-based crumb scoring using image AI (scoped, not yet built).
- A sharing layer for the small but passionate community of dedicated baking nerds.
- Weekly summary emails that surface trends across recent bakes -- the kind of insight that actually changes how you bake next.
